Teenaged West Indies batsman Deandra Dottin made history today when she smashed the first ever century in Women’s 20/20 Internationals.

Playing in the opening game of the Women’s World 20/20 Championship at Warner Park in St Kitts, the 18-year-old Barbadian slammed an astonishing, unbeaten 112 from a mere 43 balls to propel West Indies to 175 for five off their allotted 20 overs.

The right-hander smashed six fours and nine spectacular sixes as she put the Proteas attack to the sword, after the hosts were sent in.

Juliana Nero was the only other player to score over 20 runs. She scored 28 from 29 deliveries.

Needing 176 for victory, South Africa were restricted to 154 for four off their allotted 20 overs.

Opener Shandre Fritz top scored with 58 from 52 deliveries while Cri-Zelda Britz supported with 43 from 30 deliveries. Both lost their wicket through the run out rout.

Pamela Levine and Dottin picked up a wicket apiece for West Indies Women.

In the second game, Australia beat reigning champions England via the super-over after both teams made 104.
