Sri Lanka Women, New Zealand Women off to good starts
Sri Lanka Women and New Zealand Women got their Women’s World 20/Twenty Championship campaign off to winning starts at Warner Park in St Kitts.
In the first match, Sri Lanka Women beat Pakistan Women by one run in their Group ‘B’ match.
Sri Lanka, choosing to bat, were bowled out for 108 off 19.3 overs and Pakistan were bowled out for 107.
In the other Group ‘B’ match, New Zealand Women defeated India Women by 10 runs.
Batting first after winning the toss, New Zealand scored 139 for eight off their allotted 20 overs and then restricted India to 129 for eight.
West Indies Women, who opened their campaign in impressive fashion yesterday, will take on titleholders England Women in their second game tomorrow afternoon.
That match is slated to start at 2 p.m. and is the second of two games at Warner Park.
The first match features Australia Women against South Africa Women at 10 a.m.
