West Indies women will try to reach their first final of a major International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament today when they face New Zealand Women in the second semi-final of the Women’s 20/20 World Cup.

The match will take place at the Beausejour Cricket Ground in St Lucia, beginning at 3.00 p.m. Jamaica time.

West Indies have been in great form, winning two of their three preliminary matches against South Africa and title-holders England.

New Zealand, meanwhile, topped Group B with a run of impressive form. They beat India by 10 runs, crushed Sri Lanka by 47 runs before cruising past Pakistan by six wickets.

West Indies coach Sherwin Campbell, a former West Indies vice-captain, says his side will have to play well to beat the Kiwis.

However, he says the players have what is required to win the semi-final and make it to the final against Australia Women in Barbados.

Australia Women booked their place in the final following a seven-wicket victory over India Women in the first semi-final yesterday in St Lucia.

Australia Women, set a victory target of 120, ended on 123 for three with seven balls remaining.
