The head of the United Nations mission in Haiti has unveiled new efforts to provide secure housing to thousands of people made homeless by the January 12 earthquake.
Edmond Mulet says one key component of the plan will offer assistance to homeowners, to enable them to rehabilitate houses that might have been damaged but are still basically sound.
He says they are now identifying houses that haven\'t been totally demolished to help the owners make the necessary repairs.
January\'s devastating quake left more than 1.3 million people in need of shelter and claimed as many as 300,000 lives.
