South Africa captain Graeme Smith says his team will use the series in the West Indies to regain the confidence of supporters back home after the disappointment of the World 20/20.

Smith says the team has taken a lot of criticism back home following the World 20/20.

South Africa came into the World 20/20 as one of the favourites. However, they turned in inconsistent performances, losing to India in the Group Stage before going under to England and Pakistan.

Smith says the series will give them a chance to look ahead to the 2011 World Cup. A few new players have been called up.

They include opener Alviro Petersen, who made a hundred in his only Test, uncapped batsman David Miller, medium-pacer Lonwabo Tsotsobe and all-rounder Ryan McLaren.
