Bolt wins 100 m in 9.86 seconds
Triple Olympic and World champion Usain Bolt of Jamaica clocked a world-leading 9 .86 seconds to win the men’s 100-metre dash at the sixth Colorful Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting in Daegu today.
The time was 0.28 seconds off the world record of 9.58 he set at last year\'s world championships in Berlin, but he shaved 0 .08 seconds off Tyson Gay\'s 2009 meet record of 9.94.
Jamaican Michael Frater was second in 10.15 seconds with American Michael Rogers taking third in 10.18.
American Carmelita Jeter won the women’s equivalent in 11.00 seconds flat followed by the Jamaican pair of Veronica Campbell-Brown 11.05 and Sherone Simpson 11.26.
Jamaica had another victory at the meet as Kenia Sinclair won the women’s 800 metres in two minutes and 51 seconds. Pamela Jelimo of Kenya was second in two minutes 01.52.
Marvin Anderson of Jamaica was second in the men’s 200 metres. He clocked 20.59 to finish behind Ryan Bailey of the United States, who won in 20.58.
Jermaine Gonzales of Jamaica was third in the men’s 400 metres won by two-time Olympic champion Angelo Taylor in 45.21. Gonzales clocked 45.52.
Jamaican Dwight Thomas and Rosemarie Whyte were also third in their events.
Thomas clocked 13.40 in the men’s 110-metre event won by David Oliver of the United Sates in 13.11 from Cuban Dayron Robles, 13.26.
Whyte clocked 23.30 seconds for third in the women’s 200-metre event won by Bianca Knight of the United States in 22.92.
