A CARICOM delegation is due in Washington on Thursday for talks with the US government on security matters.
A CARICOM statement says the meeting is in keeping with a commitment made by President Barack Obama at the fifth Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago last year.
That meeting was aimed at to pursuing a security partnership with the region.
Among issues to be addressed are reduction of illicit drug trafficking, public safety and security and the promotion of social justice.
