Caribbean champions Jamaica have drawn a bye on the opening day of the Centrobasket Tournament, which takes place from July 5 to 11 in Dominica Republic.

The Jamaicans were drawn in Group-A, with Caribbean runners-up British Virgin Islands, United States Virgin Islands, Panama, and hosts Dominican Republic.

Caribbean Number 3 Cuba, and Number 4 Trinidad & Tobago have been posted in Group-B next to Puerto Rico, Belize, and Mexico.

On the first day of competition, the British Virgin Islands meet the United States Virgin Islands, Mexico face Cuba, T&T tackle Belize, and the Dominican Republic battle Panama.

At the end of the prelims, the top two teams in each group continue their participation, and the other six teams go home.

The Centrobasket Championship qualifies the top four teams for the 2011 International Basketball Federation Americas Championship.
