West Indies suffer third one-day loss to South africa

West Indies suffered a third straight one-day series whitewash to South Africa today by losing the fifth and final One-Day International at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.



South Africa won the match by one wicket, with two balls to spare, after ending on 259 for 9, chasing a victory target of 253.



Jacques Kallis topscored for South Africa with 57 from 55 deliveries, while JP Duminy supported with 51 from 75 balls and opener Hashim Amla chipped in with 45 from 50 balls.



Captain Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard picked up two wickets each for West Indies.



Earlier, West Indies, batting first after winning the toss, scored 252 for 6 off their allotted 50 overs.



Shivnarine Chanderpaul topscored for the Caribbean side with 67 from 104 balls, while Narsingh Deonarine hit an unbeaten run-a-ball 53 and Darren Sammy 19 not out from 8 balls.



Kieron Pollard chipped in with 25 from 19 balls, Dwayne Bravo slammed 26 from 36 deliveries, Dale Richards scored a run-a-ball 19, Darren Bravo got 17 from 47 balls and Captain Chris Gayle, 12 from 19 deliveries.



Captain Gayle was very disappointed with losing another close game.



The teams will now concentrate on the Test series, which bowls off in Trinidad next Thursday.
