England reach 275 for 5 against Bangladesh

Hosts England reached 275 for 5 against Bangladesh at the close of play on day one of the second test at Old Trafford today.



Ian Bell made 87 not out from 171 balls, including nine fours and one six, while Kevin Pietersen hit 64 from 81 balls, including seven fours and one six.



Shafiul Islam marked his return to the Bangladesh side with two wickets for 37 runs.



Resuming on 215 for 4 after tea, England lost Eoin Morgan for 37, caught by Jaharul Islam off Shahadat Hossain.



Bell and Matt Prior, 21 not out, survived until the players went off for bad light with seven overs remaining.



Bangladesh's players wore black armbands in memory of the victims of the fatal fire in Dhaka yesterday.
