Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets
An unbeaten 119 from opener Brendan Taylor led hosts Zimbabwe to an eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the last preliminary match of the tri-nation one-day series today at Harare Sports Club.
Sri Lanka set Zimbabwe a target of 237 and the host's batsmen responded with a new sense of self-belief and composure under new coach Alan Butcher, reaching 240 for 2 in 47.5 overs.
Chamu Chibhabha 58 and Tatenda taibu 42 not out also got among the runs.
Earlier, Zimbabwe dismissed Sri Lanka for 236, also in 47. 5 overs, after the Sri Lankans enjoyed an opening stand of 122.
Tilakaratne Dilshan was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 78, while his opening partner Upul Tharanga scored 69.
Chris Mpofu ended with best figures for Zimbabwe with two for 32 from nine overs. Prosper Utseya and Graeme Cremer also finished with two wickets.
