Tivoli wins Berger Super League
Tivoli ‘A’ last night secured the Jamaica Netball Association Berger Super League following an exciting 44-40 victory over champions JAMALCO in Game Two of the best-of-three finals at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
The west-Kingston team won the series 2-0 following a close 42-40 victory in Game One on Saturday night.
On their way to victory, Tivoli won three of the four quarters. They secured the first quarter 12-10, the second quarter 22-21 on their way to the 44-40 victory.
JAMALCO, who led by six points in the final quarter, had taken the third quarter 32-31.
For Tivoli, Jodiann Ffrench ended with 17 goals from 18 attempts, the veteran Cleopatra Grant had 17 from 19 and Kasey Evering 10 from 13.
Former national captain Elaine Davis led the way for JAMALCO with a game-high 33 from 30 attempts, while Marsha Murphy had seven goals from eight attempts.
It was the first title for Tivoli since 1998, while JAMALCO were searching for their eighth straight title.
