Sarwan clinches top honour at WIPA ceremony

Jamaican leg-spinner Akeem Dewar, a star in the regional TCL Under-19 Championships, was named top youth cricketer at the West Indies Players’ Association Awards Ceremony in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad last night.



Stefanie Taylor, also from Jamaica, picked up the women’s Cricketer-of-the-Year award at the annual event held at the Hyatt Regency.



Meanwhile, Ramnaresh Sarwan walked away with top honours when he copped the Player-of-the-Year award.



The award was one of two for the diminutive right-hander who also picked up the Test Cricketer-of-the-Year award at the annual event held at the Hyatt Regency.



The West Indies limited overs Player-of-the-Year award was won by veteran left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul, while all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took the West Indies 20/20 Player-of-the-Year award for performances at the World 20/20 Championship in England last year.



T&T national captain Daren Ganga walked away with the First Class limited overs top award while his side captured the First Class Team-of-the-Year honour.



Rookie speedster Kemar Roach clinched the Emerging Player-of-the-Year award.
