Warner agrees with Integrity Commission

Trinidad and Tobago’s Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner says he fully agrees with the Integrity Commission that Cabinet ministers should divest themselves of their private interests upon their assumption of public office.

He says that unlike a majority of other members of parliament, past and present, he seeks absolutely no financial interest in being a member of the Parliament or the Government.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar has said that she will reserve comment on the response of the Integrity Commission until she has studied its three-page statement issued yesterday.

However, she says the matter has already been passed on to the Attorney General Anand Ramlogan for advice and expressed confidence that Warner will do the correct thing.

Warner was appointed a government minister following the May 24 general election that was won by the People’s Partnership, an amalgam of opposition parties and trade unions.
