Australia beat Ireland
Australia defeated hosts Ireland by 39 runs in their one-day international at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin today.
Set a victory target of 232, Ireland were bowled out for 192 with eight overs remaining against the bowling of James Hopes five for 14.
Opener William Porterfield top scored for Ireland with 39. John Mooney hit 38, while Paul Stirling scored 36 and Alex Cusack 30.
Earlier, opener Tim Paine struck 81 as Australia was restricted to 231 for nine off their allotted 50 overs.
The wicket-keeper, filling in for the injured Brad Haddin, hit five fours and two sixes in his 122-ball innings. Cameron White 42 off 54 balls and captain Ricky Ponting 33 also had decent knocks in Australia\'s first match on their tour of the British Isles.
Kevin O\'Brien was the most successful bowler for Ireland with 3 for 43 and Paul Stirling chipped in with two for 34.
