Jamaican Jerome Jordan drafted by Bucks
Jamaican center Jerome Jordan, of Tulsa University, was last night drafted by the Milwaukie Bucks as the 2010 NBA Draft concluded at Madison Square Gardens in New York City.
The 7-foot, 253-pound Jordan was the 44th pick overall and became the first Tulsa player to be drafted since Michael Ruffin was picked by the Chicago Bulls in 1999.
Jordan was also the third local-based player to be drafted into the NBA following in the footsteps of Wayne Sappleton of Ardenne High and the University of Loyola Illinois, who was picked at Number 38 by the Golden State Warriors in 1982 and Andrew Kennedy of Calabar High and University of Virginia.
Kennedy was drafted at Number 43 by the Philadelphia 76’ers in 1987.
Another Jamaican,University of Louisville’s Samardo Samuels, was undrafted even after pre-draft workouts with reportedly 17 NBA teams.
