World Cup Round-up

The quarterfinal between Brazil and the Netherlands on Friday is expected to provide the first World Cup sellout at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Venue manager Archie Charalambous said demand for tickets picked up after the potential quarterfinal lineup was clear.

The 42,486-capacity stadium's biggest World Cup crowd was 38,295 for Serbia's win over Germany. There were 12,000 empty seats for Uruguay's 2-1 second-round win over South Korea.

Charalambous said the Brazil, Netherland quarterfinal is like a final.

While, Fabio Capello will discover in two weeks' time whether he is to retain his 6 million-a-year job as England head coach after a disappointing World Cup campaign in South Africa.

The Italian held talks yesterday with Club England chairman Sir David Richards in the aftermath of England's last-16 defeat against Germany in Bloemfontein.

Capello made it clear he wants to remain at the helm after a rare blemish on his managerial record.

However, there was no instant vote of confidence for Capello following the 4-1 defeat, England's heaviest ever against Germany and also in the finals of a major tournament.
