Jamaica's Under-19s depart today to defend titles
West Indies Under-19 double champions, Jamaica, will depart today for St Lucia, for the 2010 staging of the annual regional cricket tournament.
The Jamaicans won the three-day league and one-day knockout titles at home last year.
The team, which will open the defence of their three-day title tomorrow against Trinidad and Tobago, includes six players who were part of last year’s victorious unit.
They are Paul Palmer Junior, as well as the three West Indies Under-19 representatives to the 2009 Youth World Cup in New Zealand, batsman John Campbell, fast bowler Nicholson Gordon and all-rounder Jermaine Blackwood.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Kemar Marshall and batsman Ramon Senior also contributed to Jamaica’s successes last year.
Jamaica will begin the defence of their knockout title on July 29, and return home on Independence Day, August 6, 2010.
