Nelson Mandela painting sparks row in South Africa

The South Africa Government has condemned a painting depicting the body of Nelson Mandela undergoing an autopsy.



The African National Congress said the piece which is being completed at a Johannesburg shopping centre is a direct violation of Mandela’s dignity.



The piece shows Mr. Mandela’s body being cut open which significant leaders crowd around.



The artist, Yiull Damaso says his artwork was meant to make people acknowledge death, and says that the eventual passing of Mr. Mandela is something that everyone will have to confront.



There have been many complaints in the country, some from members of Mandela’s family.
