The Opposition Leader of St Kitts and Nevis, Lindsay Grant has urged the government to reconsider plans to introduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on food.

Grant said such a tax may affect the country’s food security.

St Kitts and Nevis imports 75 per cent of its food.

The government recently introduced a 150-page VAT Bill to Parliament but the document did not say what the percentage of the tax would be.
