Jamaica will play the Dominican Republic later this afternoon at 3 p.m. as action in the Centrobasket Championships for Women continues at Mayaguez, Purto Rico.

The Jamaicans are unbeaten after two rounds of games.

Simone Edwards and Nicole Louden led Jamaica to their second win yesterday.

Edwards had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Louden scored 21 points as Jamaica beat Mexico 78-73 to move top of Group ‘A’ with four points.

Meanwhile, the Jamaican men failed in their bid to reach the semifinals and earn a place at the 2011 FIBA-Americas Championships.

They were beaten 55-51 by Panama in their final Group ‘A’ match on Saturday at the Virgil Soto Sports Complex in the Dominican Republic.

Both sides finished with a 2-2 record in the group stage, but the Panamanians advance on the tiebreak rule, with a better goal average.
