The second day's play of the first cricket Test between hosts Sri Lanka and India was called off without a ball being bowled because of persistent rain at Galle International Stadium.
Almost four sessions of the match have been lost because of rain and a wet ground.
Weather cleared briefly in the afternoon session today and the ground staff attempted to dry the surface but another shower in the evening forced match referee Andy Pycroft to abandon the day's play.
Sri Lanka, batting first, were on 256 for 2 at the end of the first day's play.
Tharanga Paranavitana was unbeaten on 110 while captain Kumar Sangakkara was dismissed for 103 runs.
