Jamaica gearing up for Canada
Jamaica cricketers are now gearing up to face Canada in their second match of the Caribbean 20/20 Championship in Barbados following a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Leeward Islands at Kensington Oval last night.
The Jamaica, Canada match will take place tomorrow, beginning at 4 p.m. and four hours later, the Leeward Islands will face Trinidad and Tobago. Both matches will take place at Kensington Oval.
Jamaica, chasing 125 for victory in their opening match against the Leeward Islands, won with 14 balls remaining. They ended on 126 with Xavier Marshall leading the way with an unbeaten 62 from 57 balls.
Chris Gayle was the batsman dismissed. He was run out for 21 going for a single. Marlon Samuels was undefeated on 18.
Earlier, Krishmar Santokie took three for 20 from his allotted 4 overs, as the Leeward Islands were restricted to 124 for seven. Gayle supported with two for 19.
In the opening match of the tournament, T&T scored a nine-wicket victory over Canada.
The competition continues today with Guyana playing Windward Islands at 4 p.m. and Barbados tackling Combined Campuses and Colleges at 8.
