The chief of New York's Police Department has been meeting with Haitian government officials to discuss US support for rebuilding the security forces in Port-au-Prince.
Commissioner Ray Kelly has already held talks with President Rene Preval, the justice and public security minister and the director of Haiti’s police force.
He confirmed plans for the deployment a contingent of six Haitian-American officers to train their Haitian counterparts and help improve security after the January earthquake.
