Joint observer mission for Haiti elections

Haiti has signed an agreement with the Organisation of American States (OAS), allowing for a joint observer mission with CARICOM for the upcoming presidential election in November.



The mission will be headed by Colin Granderson, CARICOM’s Assistant Secretary General in charge of Foreign and Community relations.



An OAS statement says the team will include more than 180 observers who will be deployed in all provinces of the country to follow up before and during the electoral process.



They will also monitor the voting process, and counting and closing of ballots.



The first group of observers will travel to Haiti
