Jamaica youth Olympic squad now in Singapore
Jamaica’s squad to the first-ever Youth Olympics is now in Singapore for the August 14 to 26 Championships.
The country will be represented in three sports, track and field, swimming and badminton.
As usual the country’s best medal hope will be in track and field and four of the athletes are highly ranked. Odane Skeen, Shericka Jackson, Jeneive Russell and Olivia James are ranked among the top two in their events.
CARIFTA and CAC double-sprint champion Skeen, who was a member of the World Junior silver 4 x 100-metre relay team, is the highest ranked Jamaican among the males, with his 10.46 seconds done in the 100 metres at the Carifta Games in Cayman Islands.
Other members of the track and field team are Fredrick Dacres, Rochelle Farquharson, Stafan Fennell, Shanice Hall, Sasha-Gaye Marston, Ashinia Miller, Megan Simmonds and Lennox Williams.
Denis Coke will be the only representative in badminton, while Kendese Nangle, and Brian Forte are the swimmers.
Nangle will be the flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony.
