India beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in ODI
Virender Sehwag hit an unbeaten 99 to lead India to a six-wicket win over hosts Sri Lanka at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium today with more than 15 overs left in a one-day international match in the tri-series.
India bowled out Sri Lanka for 170 in 46 overs and reached 171 for in 34.3 overs.
Sehwag missed a century when offspinner Suraj Randiv bowled a no-ball to concede the winning run despite the batsmen hitting a six when the scores were level.
Sehwag shared a 59-run partnership with Suresh Raina to lift India from 32 for 3.
He later shared an unbroken 80-run stand for the fifth wicket with his captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was undefeated on 23 at the end.
Anjelo Mathews, two for 32, and Dilhara Fernando, two for 33, took the wickets for Sri Lanka.
Earlier, Pragyan Ojha led India bowling attack with three 36 to restrict Sri Lanka. PraveenKumar, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each.
New Zealand are the third team in the tri-series.
