WICB accuses WIPA of rejecting offer
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has accused regional players union, West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) of rejecting an offer from cricket's world governing body to help broker a deal in the long-running impasse.
The WICB says it had been approached by the International Cricket Council (ICC) who in conjunction with international players body, Federation of International Cricketers Associations, proposed an intervention.
The ICC offer was aimed at finding a resolution to the contentious issue of Image Rights.
A release from the WICB says it agreed on the offer but WIPA when contacted by the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations, and then ICC president David Morgan, the players association refused to agree to the assistance of the two parent bodies.
The release says WIPA stated that it prefers to pursue arbitration.
The WICB was responding to comments made last week by WIPA, who accused the regional board of preferring to expend large sums of money in pursuing arbitration.
