Commonwealth Games tick sales yet to pick up
Organizers are hoping people will come out in their droves to watch the Commonwealth Games despite the absence of Jamaican triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt.
The world’s fastest man will not compete at the October 3 to 14 Games because they are too late in the year.
With less than 40 days to go until the opening ceremony, there is anything but a frenzy for tickets.
To make matters worse, the opening day of the second phase of the ticketing process, when online bookings were to translate into physical tickets, did not go smoothly.
The delay in launching the second phase seemed to confirm media reports that the government was holding back tickets over a fear of black market sales.
However, organizers denied the reports and organizing committee secretary-general Lalit Bhanot says there was some problem with the distribution system, which had now been sorted out.
