Olympic Garden player banned
The disciplinary committee of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has banned Ranish Sullivan of Olympic Gardens women’s football team for the rest of the season.
She received the ban for her role in a fracas where the referee was reportedly attacked in a Sherwin Williams Colourscape game between Olympic Gardens and Trelawny Women on August 11.
As a result of the incident, the game was blown off prematurely in the 80th minute. The game was then awarded to Trelawny Women with a 3-0 margin.
Two other Olympic Gardens players, along with coach Michael Peart, and his assistant Anthony Samuels were also penalised by the disciplinary committee.
The other players who were also found guilty for their role in the incident are Opal Williams and Kemicaya Carey. Williams was suspended for three matches and Carey for two matches. They were both charged for verbally abusing the referee.
Coach Peat was fined $10,000 for disparaging remarks in the media about the officials and Samuels was fined $5,000 for verbally abusing the referee.
