Reggae Boyz win
Marlon King hit a double last night to lead Jamaica to a comprehensive 5-1 victory over St Vincent and the Grenadines in their friendly international football match at the National Stadium.
The match was the first of three games geared towards preparing the team for its opening CONCACAF World Cup qualifying dates with the Bahamas on June 15 at the National Stadium and June 18 at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium.
The Reggae Boyz will depart the island tomorrow for Trinidad for the return leg of their international friendly. The team will then travel to Grenada for another friendly game on June 10.
Demar Phillips scored Jamaica’s first goal in the 17th minute.
Then King got his first goal from the penalty spot to put Jamaica 2-0 ahead. He then scored his second goal in the 42nd minute as the Reggae Boyz opened up a 3-0 lead.
Marlon James netted for the eastern Caribbean team in the 57th minute to reduce the deficit to 3-1.
Deon Burton 74th minute and captain Ricardo Gardener 88th minute found the back of the net to round off the goal feast.
