Thousands of workers across France staged a one-day strike yesterday to protest against the government plans to raise the retirement age.
The government has indicated its decision to increase the age of retirement from 60 to 62.
Workers from both the public and private sectors were on strike, including those in the transportation, education, justice, health, media, and banking sectors.
The strike also led to a reduction in train services.
The mass job walk-off was being planned since June.
The government has also said the aim is to reduce its pension plan deficits.
