Togo's football federation says former coach Tchanile Bana was responsible for taking a fake national team to a friendly against Bahrain, and has banned him for three years.

In a statement today, the federation said the organisation, preparation and supervision of the match were planned by Tchanile Bana.

The team made up of unidentified players lost 3-0 in the September 7 friendly.

Bana, who was Togo's head coach in 2000 and 2004, had already been suspended for two years for taking players to Egypt without permission.

A member of the disciplinary commission investigating the affair says more officials will also face sanctions.
