Parliamentarians to meet over current leadership

Parliamentarians aligned to the Barbados Labour Party are scheduled to hold another meeting to vote on whether they want current leader Mia Mottley or former Prime Minister Owen Arthur to be in charge of the opposition party.

A meeting of party MPs yesterday failed to arrive at a decision.

Both contenders were absent and there is expected to be another meeting to resolve the issue ahead of the annual conference of the party later this month.

A majority of party MPs are said to favour Arthur taking over the reins again from the first woman to lead the party.
