Bolt wins 200 metres

Jamaican Usain Bolt won the men’s 200 metres in a world leading 19.83 seconds at the Ostrava Golden Spike field meeting yesterday in the Czech Republic.



Bolt, the 100-metre world record holder at 9.72 won easily ahead of Zimbabwe’s Brian Dzingai, who recorded 20.17.



There was a second victory for Jamaica. Melaine Walker clocked 54.42 to win the women’s 400-metre hurdles.



Jamaica’s other participant at the meet Ricardo Chambers was third in the men’s 400 metres won by Great Britain’s Martyn Rooney in 45.32. Chambers clocked 45.83.



Dayron Robles of Cuba set a world record in the men’s 110-metre hurdles, clocking 12.87 seconds.



He was 0.01 seconds faster than the previous mark, set by China’s Liu Xiang at Lausanne, Switzerland in 2006.
