Bermuda to get new leader

Bermuda could have a new leader by later this evening following the resignation of the current Premier, Ewart Brown.

Brown has also resigned as the leader of the Progressive Labour Party (PLP).

His replacement is expected to be chosen at the party's annual conference.

There are three contenders for the position of PLP leader and premier of the British territory.

The candidates are the current finance minister Paula Cox, former cabinet member, Terry Lister and former school principal, Dale Butler.

Observers say Finance Minister Cox, the favourite to win, has led a low-keyed campaign for the post compared with the other two contenders.
