Bermuda’s Finance minister Paula Cox has been chosen as the country’s next Premier.
She was elected last night as the new leader of the governing Progressive Labour Party (PLP) to replace Ewart Brown who has stepped down both as leader and Premier.
Reports say it was an easy victory for Cox who scored 124 votes to the 39 of her closest challenger Terry Lister.
The incoming premier, a lawyer, has been an MP for 14 years during which she has held several cabinet positions, including deputy premier.
Cox has promised to work to heal divisions in the party and to regenerate the economy.
