Officials in St Vincent and the Grenadines say normality is returning to the country, following the damage caused by Hurricane Tomas late last week.

The government has said the agriculture sector was the worst hit, with damage estimated at approximately US$24 million.

The acting head of the National Emergency Management Organisation, Michelle Forbes, says all roads have been reopened and electricity and water supplies have been partially restored.

However, more than 600 people are still in shelters, awaiting repairs to some of the 1,200 homes that were damaged.
