Weather holds key to start of Manning Cup second round

The Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association says matches in the senior schoolboy competitions which were scheduled for this afternoon will go ahead as planned.

There were doubts about today’s schedule as the country was bracing for heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Thomas between 7 p.m. yesterday and 7 a.m.

However, with only moderate to light rainfall reported in Kingston and other areas, ISSA says the schedule will remain as planned.

In the rural area daCosta Cup competition there will be a rescheduled game between Munro College and Group Three leaders Lennon High. The teams will face off at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex.

The scheduled match-ups in the urban area Manning Cup competition are Charlie Smith against Waterford at 1:30 and St Andrew Technical High School facing Eltham High at 3 p.m.

Both games are scheduled for the Prison Oval in Spanish Town and represent the first set of matches in the second round.
