Cruise cancels call to St Kitts

Officials in St Kitts and Nevis are trying to contain the fallout from an incident in which a busload of cruise passengers was robbed at gunpoint by masked men.

Two cruise ships have cancelled their calls to St Kitts this week following Sunday's incident in which 17 cruise passengers had their cash, jewellery, cell phone and other personal items stolen.

Among those who have condemned the attack is the country's Opposition leader Mark Brantley.

Brantley said the incident has tarnished the image of St Kitts and Nevis.

He’s questioning who would want to invest in an environment where crime and violence are the rule rather than the exception.
