Germany tightens airport security

Germany is increasing security at airports and railway stations following what officials say are concrete indications of terrorist attacks being planned for the end of November.



Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere says the country received a tip-off from another unnamed country.



He says Germany has information on sustained efforts by Islamist extremists to carry out attacks.



The interior minister says the extra security will remain in place until further notice.



de Maiziere says while there are grounds for concern, there is no need for hysteria.
