Bravo shines, but West Indies struggle

West Indies all-rounder Darren Bravo hit a defiant 80, however, his dismissal just before the close of play, left Sri Lanka with somewhat of grip on the second Test in Colombo.



Sri Lanka declared their first innings at 387 for nine however, the West Indies, despite Bravo’s knock, could only manage 165 for five at the close - 222 runs behind at the end of three.



Bravo, who stood firm when wickets were falling at the other end, lost his wicket moments towards the end caught at point off a leading edge with wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh Jr, who ended on four not out, watching at the other end.



Christopher Gayle, who made 333 in the first innings of the First test, could only manage 31 this time around, while Brendan Nash, made 29.



Opener Adrian Barath, 3, and veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 8, are the other batsmen back in the pavilion. The other not out batsman is Darren Bravo, who ended on 1 not-out after facing just one delivery.



Action on the fourth day will get underway tonight at 11.30 p.m.local time.
