Haitians denouncing polls

Disappointed voters in Haiti are protesting along the streets of the capital, Port au Prince, demanding that the presidential election that took place yesterday be scrapped.

All the opposition presidential candidates have denounced the election as rigged and have called for their supporters to protest.

According to Mirlande Manigat, a front-runner for the opposition, the ballot boxes were stuffed with votes for the government candidate, Jude Celestin, even before polling stations opened.

Opposition candidates have also criticised a senior UN official in Haiti for saying the election went well.
