Study suggests index fingers lower prostate risk

New research suggests that men with long index fingers have a lower risk of developing prostate cancer.

A study of more than 1,500 prostate cancer patients in Britain found that those whose index fingers were longer than their ring fingers were 33 per cent less likely to develop the disease than men with the opposite pattern of lengths.

The authors of the research said the finding could be used with other factors such as family history or genetic testing to identify at-risk men.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men.

It kills more than 250,000 men in the world every year.
