Passengers on a LIAT flight on Thursday praised the captain for landing safely at the V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua, after the aircraft lost a wheel on take-off.

LIAT’s Corporate Communications Manager Desmond Brown said flight 362 was travelling from Antigua to San Juan, Puerto Rico with 24 passengers on board.

He said it had to return to the V.C. Bird International Airport shortly after take-off because of a main wheel failure.

He said the aircraft is being examined by the company’s maintenance department and will undergo the various checks stipulated by the manufacturer before it is returned to service.
