Salary increase for public servants

The Guyanese government has approved a 5 per cent pay increase for all public officers.
The increase is retroactive to January 2010 and will also be paid to government pensioners.
The increase means that the monthly salary of the lowest paid public servants will now be the equivalent of US$175 US.
