Teen lovers in Guyana hang themselves

Two teenagers in Guyana have hanged themselves in what Guyanese authorities say was an apparent suicide pact because their parents disapproved of their relationship.
The Guyanese police released a statement at the weekend saying the bodies of 18-year-old bus driver Avinash Persaud and 17-year-old waitress Kamattie Wilfred, were found Friday in an abandoned house.
A relative of Mr. Persaud told reporters that the lovers ran away from home several days earlier because their parents did not want them to be together.
