England beat Australia by an innings and 71 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five test Ashes series.
Australia were thoroughly outplayed in this game and never in the hunt after posting a well below par 245 in their first innings. From then on, England kicked on; batting well and posted a huge 1st innings score of 641-5 declared.
Australia tried to fight-back in their second innings, but Michael Clarke's dismissal late last night tilted the balance completely.
Today was a formality after Michael Hussey played a poor stroke and then the rest of the team caved in.
Swann finished 5-91 with in the second innings for a match haul of 7 for 16.1 Kevin Pietersen was named man of the match for his highest test score of 227 and the crucial wicket of Michael Clark.
