Preval calls to end Haiti election violence
The outgoing president of Haiti Rene Preval is appealing for calm after two people were killed in demonstrations against the November 28 election results.
Haitian pop star and presidential candidate, Michel Martelly, is also urging his supporters to refrain from violence but says they are to continue protesting against the election results which saw him excluded from the second-round run-off.
Some international observers have also raised concerns, after Mr Martelly was excluded from the second round run-off in favour of the governing party candidate, Jude Celestin.
Meanwhile, a Caricom -OAS observer team has called on candidates and political parties to make prompt and full use of the appeals process in order to address any grievances they have.
Final results will be announced on December 20.
