JFF accepts recommendations to ban referees
The Jamaica Football Federation has accepted the recommendations of its Referees Committee to suspend the officials who officiated in the daCosta Cup final on December 4 and the all-island Under-14 final on December 10.
Referee Patrick McPherson, Donat McKenley, Melvin Reid and Robert Lindsay, who officiated in the daCosta Cup final between Rusea’s and Lennon at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, have been banned until December 31.
They failed to detect a deliberate handball from Anthony Walker in the final minute of extra time which resulted in the player scoring to give Rusea’s a 1-0 victory over Lennon.
Referee Garfield Gardener, Jermaine Yeesing, Lenval Peart and Yakeeni Malcolm have been banned until January 7 of next year. They failed to detect a deliberate handball from Dominic James. His goal gave Jamaica College a 1-0 victory over Cornwall College in the all-island Under-14 final at Dinthill.
